New puppy

This is our new puppy, Lizzie. She is a one year old English Pointer. We rescued her from a shelter in southern Kentucky last Saturday. She was neglected and abandoned by her previous owner, a hunter, because she didn't "point" well. This little girl is definitely not a hunting dog. She is extremely sensitive to sound and sudden movements, such as a door slamming, window shades rolling up, or even the boys' random farts that leak out. Haha. The first week at home has been very good and she is adapting well to her new surroundings. She is getting plenty of loving attention from her new owners. :-) We are especially pleased because there have been no messes in the house, no chewing, and no excessive barking. She is however a little bit OCD, and has a tendency to enter/exit every room three times before she can move on. It's pretty funny to watch her go back and fourth. We are feeding her quite a lot of Purina Puppy Chow (5 cups per day, per the recommendation of the vetrinarian) because she is so underweight and malnurished. Right now she weighs about 35 pounds, but we need to get her up to 40 or 42. Eat, puppy, eat!!
